Pepe

Jose (Pepe) Estrada (he, him, el), currently serves as Director of Public Affairs at Walmart. He’s been at Walmart for a combined 19 years. Pepe launched Walmart’s first influencer-based reputation management initiative. As a member of Walmart’s Constituent Relations team, he is responsible for Walmart’s ally development and outreach effort in the Latino and LGBTQ+ communities, with the goal of strengthening our corporate reputation and expanding our license to operate in the USA. Prior to Walmart, he served as Public Affairs Manager at State Farm Insurance. Before State Farm, Pepe was the Marketing Director of a European Union agricultural development project in his native Peru. Pepe is a lifetime member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund. He serves on the Out & Equal board of directors as Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee, the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Cox School of Business Latino Leadership Initiative (LLI) Advisory Board, and the UnidosUS Corporate Advisory Board. In his hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas, he serves as a member of the board of directors of the Boy Scouts of America, Natural State Council as well as the board of directors of Latinas en Bici. Pepe earned his PhD. in Economics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. He holds a M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in Lima, Peru and a B.S. in Economics from the Universidad de Lima, Peru. Pepe and his wife, Denise, have two young adult children, Denis Jose and Ana Sophia. In their spare time, Pepe and his wife enjoy hiking and biking through Arkansas’ many wooded and paved trails and travelling.
